Dr. Greg Philpott of New Albany, Indiana founded A.M.S.A. in 1989, along with the help of David Dill. After seeing that mini-sprints in the Midwest were a loose knit group of racers, Greg wanted to solidify this group. Having a vision of organizing and promoting mini-sprints, Greg and Dave set out to accomplish this task. Starting with one track of weekly racing, they soon realized that the sport needed more exposure. After contacting several well-known major dirt tracks, they soon found themselves traveling the Midwest exposing A.M.S.A. and its members to new tracks and fans.
During the years of growth, A.M.S.A. has found itself to be an innovator. A.M.S.A. has several credits to itself-racing at major dirt tracks, the first mini-sprint association to bring mini-sprints to Florida, coverage in Circle Track, Open Wheel, Performance Racing Industry magazines, National Speed Sport News, Mid American Auto Racing and Final Lap along with local newspapers. They set the rules and standards that others used as a base to get their organization started. They started with the spec tires and technical inspections to lower the costs associated with the engines.
One of the proudest accomplishments achieved is the reputation that A.M.S.A. is some of the toughest competition available and strives to conduct their shows in a professional manner with the highest standards. All members are dedicated to achieving these goals. A.M.S.A. is a Limited Liability Corporation created solely for the purpose of promotion 1200 cc class of mini-sprint racing. Whereas all owners and members will strive to uphold to it’s highest level the respectability and standards of excellence for the association and follow all rules and regulations.
A.M.S.A. WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR FANS, THE MANY INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES THAT SUPPORT US THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. ALSO WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE MEMBERS FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION THAT KEEPS OUR ASSOCIATION ON TOP.
